Frontier Nursing Mission Trip, March 8-19, 2012

The Frontier Nursing Class is going on a Medical Mission trip over Spring Break: March 8-19, 2012.

Twelve students and faculty travel to Tasba Raya Adventist Mission Clinic in Francia Sirpi, Nicaragua serving the Miskito Indians. The Frontier Nursing Class solicits your prayers and your support. If you would like to donate toward this trip please contact the Union College Advancement office at 402.486.2503 or give online, designating your gift as "other" then specifying "Frontier nursing trip."

Union College installs high-tech medical simulation lab

He blinks. He talks, moves and breathes. His heart beats, his pupils dilate. He sweats, cries and even bleeds. But he’s no ordinary patient. Sim-Man 3G, the latest in patient simulator technology, has become the core element of Union College’s new medical simulation laboratory for nursing, physician assistant and international rescue and relief students.

First spring nursing cohort graduates

Eighteen nursing students created history in December simply by graduating. Two years prior, the students had been the first class to take advantage of the newly expanded Nursing program by being admitted during the spring semester rather than the fall. The revised nursing program took flight in 2007, accepting two classes of 24 students each semester—nearly doubling the nursing enrollment.

With the increasing need for nurses becoming apparent, creating more opportunities for students to enter the program at Union is significant, explained Deborah Yancer, chair of the Division of Health Sciences.
