In Spring 2013, three consultants (Brittney Lippincott, Jessica Perrone, and Aphelandra Messer) noticed that most students came in with academic research papers, even though the Studio offers its services for any type of writing. Knowing that Union has plenty of talented writers, they came up with the idea to start hosting a creative writers' night at the Studio.
Thus, Neptune Night was born.
Now, once every month, the Studio invites Union's writers (and anyone else with a passion for creative writing) to gather together, enjoy snacks and each other's company, and discuss a writing topic. A few topics so far have been "How to Kill a Character," "Six-word Stories," and "Archetypes vs. Stereotypes." The Studio has also collaborated with the Division of Humanities to host poetry reading nights, which have been very successful.
