Amnesty and Tiny Hands International International
Amnesty International is a worldwide movement of people who campaign for human rights. Our work is based on careful research and on the standards agreed by the international community. We are independent of any government, political ideology, economic interest or religion.
"Amnesty International mobilizes volunteer activists-people who give freely of their time and energy in solidarity with those whose rights have been abused. We have more than one million members, supporters and subscribers in over 140 countries. We come from all walks of life, with widely different political and religious views, united by our determination to work for a world where everyone enjoys human rights. "
Tiny Hands International
" Tiny Hands is a Christian non-profit organization dedicated to empowering the church in the developing world to help the poor overcome poverty and become lights of the world. We are committed to finding the greatest injustices in the world, and working towards relieving them however possible. We are particularly called to orphans, street children, and the victims of the sex-trafficking industry. We want to find those who are already doing the work, who are called and faithful, and help them do it in greater ways and with more efficiency. We do it all in obedience to, and for the glory of Jesus Christ. "
Union College sponsors a chapter of Amnesty/Tiny Hands International for the purpose of:
- Writing letters to support prisoners of conscience throughout the world.
- Making the Union College family more aware of human rights abuses around the world and encouraging others to join the campaign to release those who are prisoners of conscience worldwide.
- Raising awareness on the effects of human trafficking and 21st century slavery and encouraging others to join the movement to save lives worldwide.
