NURS 499: Preceptorship is the final course and clinical in the Division of Nursing's curriculum. It is scheduled during the last weeks of the final semester. Students are assigned to work with an experienced registered nurse for 120 hours and function in the role of a professional nurse to provide quality care.
This course bridges the gap between theory and practice at an entry level position. Students gain experience in prioritization, time management, delegation, critical thinking, and decision making.
Various facilities and areas are available for this capstone experience and placement is determined by student, faculty, and facility availability.
