Vision Discussion

The vision statement of the physician assistant program serves to clarify the heart and direction of the program in executing its mission:

The Union College PA Program will be recognized for its professional diversity, clinical relevance, academic excellence, and responsible servanthood, enabling students to practice with joy and compassion in primary care health services oriented to under-served communities. (UCPAP Vision Statement).

The greatest needs in the health care communities of our country and world-wide continue to be in primary care, with significant trends yet identifying shortages in family medicine, especially in rural and inner city areas. UCPAP is uniquely located in a city with convenient access to both rural and inner city under-served primary care arenas. The vision of the program will lead with this emphasis on primary care in health-deprived populations.
