While nearly all Union College students receive financial assistance of some kind, less than 30 percent of students are honored with a donor scholarship each year. During the 2009-2010 school year, Union College distributed a total of $358,358 from annual and endowed scholarships established by donors to underwrite the financial assistance packages of 247 students.
Below, you may find a complete list of the donor scholarships awarded to Union College students during the 2012-2013 school year, along with the selection criteria for that scholarship.
Abel Foundation Scholar (NICF)
Presented to residents of Nebraska who demonstrate good academic standing and are in need of financial assistance.
M. L. Andreasen and Vesta Andreasen-Jensen Memorial Scholarship
Presented to junior or senior theology and music majors taking at least 12 semester hours with minimum 3.250 GPAs. The recipients must show leadership ability, true interest in and concern for others, and demonstrate a positive outlook with well-defined goals.
Lael Backy Memorial Scholarship
Presented to village students who are in good academic standing with a minimum 2.670 GPA. Preference will be given to married students with families who demonstrate financial need.
Bruce Bacon Organ Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a student who is interested in taking organ lessons.
Julia Ann Bang Memorial Fund (MFHE)
Presented to juniors and seniors (with consideration given to freshmen and sophomores) in high academic standing. Recipients must demonstrate honesty, dedication, and strong work ethics, along with financial need.
Bank of the West (NICF)
Presented to a resident of Nebraska in good academic standing who demonstrates financial need.
Joy and Grover Barker Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a junior or senior accounting major with a minimum 3.500 GPA who demonstrates ability and intent to pass the CPA exam. The recipient must be of good moral and behavioral standing, demonstrate a strong work ethic, and display academic and community leadership.
Dr. Melvin and Muriel Beltz Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a student who is studying in the area of theology or medicine with priority given to someone interested in promoting the SDA health message. The recipient must be in good academic standing, be actively involved in campus and community activities, and demonstrate financial need and a strong work ethic by contributing to his/her tuition.
Delbert and Jeannette Berbohm President’s Discretionary Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to students who show promise of success in their area of study, exhibit a commitment to high Christian standards, and demonstrate special financial need. The president of Union College chooses the recipients of this scholarship.
Dalrie and Joan Berg Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to students who are pursuing careers in theology or osteopathy and demonstrate financial need and a strong work ethic by contributing to tuition. The recipients must be in good moral and behavioral standing with qualities of honesty, integrity and trustworthiness. The recipients must also show satisfactory academic progress within their majors.
Arthur and Liliane Bergman Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to students who show promise of success in their area of study and demonstrate high Christian standards. The recipients must exhibit a strong work ethic by contributing to their educational expenses.
Howard and Effie Birch Physician Assistant Scholarship
Presented to a junior or senior enrolled in the physician assistant program who is in good social and academic standing. The recipient must demonstrate financial need.
Black Hills Energy (NICF)
Presented to a freshman Nebraska resident whose parents are customers of Aquila. The student should demonstrate good academic standing with preference to those majoring in business, economics, accounting or the natural sciences.
The Mardian J. Blair Family Scholarship for Health Care Management (MFHE)
Presented to a student majoring in business administration with an interest in health care administration, nursing with an interest in nursing administration, or the physician assistant program. The recipient must have a minimum 3.500 GPA within his/her major and a minimum 3.250 GPA overall. The recipient must also demonstrate leadership ability, high moral character, and a commitment to the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Blake Family Peace and Social Justice Award
Presented to students who demonstrate commitment to advancing the causes of social justice and peace.
Fred and Rosie Bloom Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a student who shows satisfactory academic progress within his/her chosen major. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and a strong work ethic by working a minimum of 12 hours per week to contribute to his/her tuition.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska (NICF)
Presented to a resident of Nebraska in good academic standing with a minimum 3.000 GPA who demonstrates financial need.
Edith Breashears Nursing Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a junior or senior nursing student with a 3.000 GPA or above who displays good moral and behavioral values. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and strong work habits.
Brinker Family Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a non-traditional student demonstrating financial need. The recipient must be actively involved in campus and community activities and demonstrate loyalty to the religious principles of Union College.
Dean Bob and Mary Britain Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a student pursuing a career as a college or academy dean who is in good social and academic standing. A student pursuing a degree in education or theology will also be considered. The recipient must demonstrate financial need.
Brunswick Nursing Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a nursing student who has financial need, demonstrates personal commitment to professional excellence, and exhibits outstanding clinical skills.
Buxton-Smith Nursing Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a nursing major who demonstrates financial need.
Jean Carlson Memorial Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to students who have minimum 3.300 GPAs or above. The recipients must be involved in campus and/or community activities. First preference is given to upper classmen with consideration given to freshmen and sophomores.
Howard J. Cash Memorial Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a junior or senior with a minimum 2.500 GPA who has financial need. The recipient must demonstrate a strong work ethic, be in good moral and behavioral standing, and have the personal qualities of honesty, integrity, trustworthiness and gentleness.
Claude and Carol Chan International Scholarship (MFHE)
The recipient must be an international student who is a sophomore or higher in class standing with a minimum 3.000 GPA. The recipient must show satisfactory progress within his/her chosen major and demonstrate financial need.
Asa Christensen Pre-Law Scholarship
Presented to a pre-law student who is in good academic standing and demonstrates financial need.
Scholarship selection in 2010/2011
Eunice V. Christensen Scholarship
Presented to non-music majors interested in taking vocal lessons. Recipients must be of good moral and behavioral standing with high Christian values. Students must also have minimum 3.000 GPAs and demonstrate financial need.
A.J. and Gladys E. Christiansen Memorial Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to all levels of students, freshman through senior, with first preference given to North Dakota residents who come from farming families. Students must demonstrate financial need.
Max N. and Elsie May Christianson Scholarship
Presented to a deserving student in good academic standing.
Max Christianson Division of Business and Computer Science Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to business and computer science majors with preference to those with strong math backgrounds who are scholarly role models and will strengthen the academic standing of the Division of Business and Computer Science. Recipients must have a minimum 3.000 GPA and demonstrate financial need. Students should also contribute to tuition by working 10-12 hrs/wk during the school year as well as summer employment. Recipients must show strong Christian commitment, be active in extracurricular activities, possess leadership skills, and have a strong desire to pursue their full education at Union.
Max Christianson Business and Computer Science Scholars (MFHE)
Presented to business and computer science majors who have completed at least 92 semester hours toward a baccalaureate degree. Recipients must have a GPA of 3.660 or above within their major and be involved in activities such as volunteer service and other on- and off-campus extracurricular activities to develop leadership qualities. Recipients must work 8-10 hrs/wk during the academic school year and complete full-time summer work in a career related position between their junior and senior years, preferably at an Adventist health care institution.
Max Christianson Division of Nursing Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to nursing majors who are scholarly role models and will strengthen the academic standing of the nursing program. Recipients must have a minimum 3.000 GPA and demonstrate financial need.
Max Christianson Nursing Scholars (MFHE)
Presented to nursing majors who have completed at least 92 semester hours toward a baccalaureate degree. Recipients must have a GPA of 3.600 or above and be involved in activities such as volunteer service and other on- and off-campus extracurricular activities to develop leadership qualities. Recipients must work 8-10 hrs/wk during the academic school year and complete full-time summer work in a career-related position between their junior and senior years, preferably at an Adventist health care institution.
Wallace and Lucile Claridge Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to junior or senior theology or education majors, with preference to education majors intending to teach in church school, who have a minimum 2.500 GPA. The recipients must demonstrate financial need and a commitment to the Seventh-day Adventist church.
Class of ’51 Golden Anniversary Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a student maintaining a 2.000 GPA or higher who is in good social and academic standing.
Class of ’62 Endowed Scholarship
Presented to a full-time student in good academic standing who works at least 12 hours or more per week and displays good moral values.
Class of ’67 Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to students of good academic and moral standing. The student must demonstrate financial need and responsibility by contributing toward tuition.
Ester Kristina Colson Memorial Scholarship
Presented to a music major who demonstrates proficiency in music performance.
The Lee and Helene and Lori and Lee A. Sapp Scholarship Program for Students of Color as Matched by the Cooper Foundation (NICF)
Presented to minority Nebraska residents who are sophomores or higher in good social and academic standing with a minimum 2.000 GPA.
Grace Duffield-Shaffer Cowdrick Memorial Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to an education major with a 3.000 GPA or above who shows promise of success as a teacher. The recipient must demonstrate financial need, have a warm, outgoing personality, and show a commitment to the SDA church.
Ella Johnson-Crandall Scholarship
Presented to a member of the SDA church who shows promise of academic success and is in good social standing. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and responsibility by contributing toward tuition.
Dr. C.C. and Mabel L. Criss Memorial Foundation Scholarship (NICF)
The recipient must be a resident of Nebraska, with first preference given to residents of Douglas, Washington, Sarpy or Saunders counties. The student must demonstrate financial need and be in good academic standing.
Presented to a student who is studying in the area of religion or who has an eventual goal of a professional career in the field of medicine. The recipient must exhibit a strong commitment to God and to the Seventh-day Adventist faith. He/she must also show satisfactory academic progress within a chosen major, demonstrate a strong work ethic and financial need.
Dalrymple-Smith Academic Achievement Award (MFHE)
Presented to high achieving students with either a 4.000 or very high GPA.
Annabell L. Dart-Day Memorial Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a student who possesses honesty, dedication, and a strong work ethic. The recipient must be in good social and academic standing and demonstrate financial need. The student must maintain a minimum 2.500 GPA.
Degering Scholarship
Presented to a student in excellent academic standing with good moral and behavioral values. The recipient must demonstrate financial need.
Everett and Opal Dick Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to students preparing for the teaching profession with preference given to history majors. The recipients must be in good academic and social standing.
Judson N. Durrant Memorial Music Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a sophomore or junior voice and/or piano major with a minimum 3.250 GPA.The recipient should be identified by instructors as one with great potential for success in his/her chosen area of music.The recipient must also exhibit solid spiritual values and his/her music should reflect that quality. The student must also demonstrate financial need and work to contribute toward tuition.
Eastern European Cultural Exchange Scholarship
Presented to EAP and other students with financial need. Priority will be given to students from the Ukraine, students from Eastern European countries, students who are returned student missionaries who have served in Eastern Europe, and students who are returned student missionaries.
Roy Eckerman Religion Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to students who are planning careers in denominational work. Recipients must demonstrate good social and academic standing.
EducationQuest Foundation Scholarship
Presented to undergraduate Nebraska students who demonstrate financial need.
Virgil Eihusen Scholar (NICF)
Presented to a student who is a resident of Nebraska. The student must be a business major with entrepreneurship qualities. He/she must be in good academic standing and in need of financial assistance.
Wilfred and Mildred Emery Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to pre-med majors with a minimum 2.500 GPA. Preference given to students in junior or senior class standing. Recipients must show strong work ethic and demonstrate financial need.
Endicott Clay Product Company (NICF)
Presented to a student from Jefferson County, Nebraska. The recipient must be in good academic standing and demonstrate financial need.
John R. Engen Award in the Chemical Sciences
Preference given to a junior or senior chemistry major who has taken or is currently taking Instrumental Analysis. Biology majors will also be considered who are taking Instrumental Analysis.
Mary Evard Memorial Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a sophomore, junior or senior with a minimum 3.000 GPA. The recipient must show satisfactory academic progress within the field of elementary education, demonstrate financial need, and show a strong work ethic by working to contribute to his/her tuition. The recipient must also be actively involved in campus and community activities.
Rene Evard Memorial Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to students who demonstrate strong scholastic ability and financial need. Primary consideration may be given to students showing promise for contributions in the fields of science and mathematics.
William and Alice (McFarland) Falconer Scholarship
Presented to students pursuing degrees in the medical or nursing fields. The recipients must be sophomores or higher in class standing, have financial need and demonstrate financial responsibility by working. The recipients should be U.S. citizens and demonstrate academic promise by maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.500 or above. Recipients should also possess Christian character demonstrated by high moral principles and service to others.
Wadia Farag Art Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to an art major of sophomore class standing or above. The recipient should demonstrate academic promise by maintaining a 3.000 GPA or above and possess a Christian character shown by high morals and service to others. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and financial responsibility by working.
Shafeek and Wadia Farag Education Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to an education major of sophomore class standing or above who possesses a Christian character demonstrated by high moral principles and service to others. The recipient should also demonstrate academic promise by maintaining a 3.500 GPA or above and demonstrate financial need and responsibility by working.
Shafeek and Wadia Farag EAP Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a student in the EAP program who has completed a minimum of one semester at Union College and demonstrates financial need and responsibility by working. The recipient should show academic promise by exhibiting strong scholastic progress and should possess high moral character, principles, and a willingness to serve others.
Shafeek and Wadia Farag Physician Assistant Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a student of at least sophomore status enrolled in the physician assistant program who shows academic promise by maintaining a GPA of 3.500 or above. The recipient should possess a Christian character by exhibiting solid values and service to others. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and responsibility by working to contribute to his/her education.
Ferguson Office Management/Business Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a sophomore or junior office management or business major from the Mid-America Union with a 2.500 GPA or above. He/she should demonstrate good moral and behavioral values, have financial need, and demonstrate strong work habits. The recipient must be a full-time student working 12 hrs/wk.
Herbert and Sarah Flemmer Memorial Scholarship
Presented to a student who is from a small rural community who demonstrates financial need.
Nicole Fogg Memorial Nursing Scholarship
Presented to a junior or senior nursing student at Union College who has demonstrated a personal and committed interest in health care. The recipient must display the potential for excellent nursing skills and be in good academic standing with a 2.500 or higher GPA.
Robert Forbes Memorial Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to students exhibiting leadership skills in campus organizations as evidenced by membership in clubs, athletic programs, music groups, or participation in intramural sports, etc. Recipients must demonstrate strong work ethics by working a minimum of 12 hrs/wk and contributing to tuition, and have completed 25 credit hours at Union College. The recipients must also possess strong moral characters as evidenced by volunteer service or participation in activities that help set a positive spiritual atmosphere on campus.
Fund Fifty Seven for Student Scholarship (MFHE)
The purpose of this scholarship fund is to support students as most needed, whether it be for financial need or academic merit.
G.E.B. Memorial Music Scholarship
Presented to outstanding piano and/or organ students who show dedication and commitment to the development and use of this ability. This scholarship is given in memory of Inabelle Groth, her parents and grandparents, and the Groth, Eno, and Block families of College View.
Elsie Gibbs Memorial Educators Scholarship
Presented to outstanding education majors with potential for innovative approaches to teaching English Education or Language Arts. Financial need is taken into consideration.
Arthur and Irene Hagele Memorial Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to students majoring in science or mathematics. Students majoring in mathematics or mathematics education may be given priority. Recipients must demonstrate good scholastic ability (minimum GPA of 3.000) and/or
financial need.
Culpepper Hagen Scholarship
Presented to a female student studying English/communications who displays high Christian standards, shows scholastic ability, and demonstrates financial need.
Elmer and Leona Hagen Memorial Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to students, with preference given to those studying theology, who show promise for successful pastoral careers. The recipients must be sophomores or higher in class standing with a minimum 2.500 GPA. The recipients must exhibit good work and study habits as well as demonstrate financial need.
Ardery and Ellen Hardt Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a resident of Minnesota who demonstrates financial need and has a minimum 3.000 GPA. The student must possess the following characteristics: honesty, dedication and a strong work ethic.
Emanuel and Carolyn Harr Memorial Scholarship
Presented to a junior or senior nursing student with a minimum 3.000 GPA in nursing courses.
Olson and Hartman Family Endowed Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to students studying in the Divisions of Human Development and/or Religion with preference to students studying English education or religion (consideration given to elementary education or history education majors.) The recipients must maintain a minimum 3.000 GPA and demonstrate a commitment to serving the Seventh-day Adventist church and their community. Preference is given to students from the Mid-America Union.
Ben and Lucile Hassenpflug Ministerial Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a senior ministerial student who demonstrates financial need.
The Hawks Foundation Scholarship (NICF)
Presented to a resident of Nebraska who demonstrates financial need and is in good academic standing.
Health Science/Education Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a student majoring in one of the following: education, health sciences or one of the pre-professional medical areas. The recipient must be at least a sophomore with a minimum 3.000 GPA, demonstrate financial need and work to contribute toward tuition.
Charles and Naoma Henkelmann Scholarship Fund (MFHE)
Presented to students who show promise of success in their chosen area of study and demonstrate a commitment to high Christian standards. The recipients must demonstrate financial need.
Charles and Naoma Hopkins Henkelmann Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a music major with high Christian values who has demonstrated strong musicianship, leadership and scholastic qualities. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and show promise as a contributing musician to the Adventist system.
Charles and Naoma Hopkins Henkelmann Nursing Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a student who has been admitted to the nursing program. The recipient must be a junior or senior who is in good social and academic standing. He/she must demonstrate a positive attitude toward learning and show promise of future contributions to nursing and society.
Dale and Wilma Hepker Social Work Scholarship
Presented to a social work major in good academic standing. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and must not be eligible for subsidy benefits.
Betty Hilliard Memorial Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a student who shows promise of success in his/her area of study and demonstrates a commitment to high Christian standards. The recipient must demonstrate financial need.
Kenneth Holland Scholarship
Presented to students from North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota. Recipients must be journalism and/or communication majors. The recipients should maintain a minimum 3.000 GPA and work a minimum of 10 hours per week to contribute to tuition.
Hub of Harmony (MFHE)
Presented to American minority students who have a minimum 2.500 GPA or above and contribute to their tuition costs.
Joe and Bonnie Hunt Memorial Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a student who shows promise of success, exhibits commitment to high Christian standards, and demonstrates a strong work ethic while maintaining a minimum 2.750 GPA.
International Friends Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to full-time international students, with preference to students who have completed a minimum of one semester at Union College. Recipients must exhibit strong academic progress, have high moral characters/principles and show a willingness to serve others. The students must also have a good work ethic and demonstrate financial need. Priority is given to students not eligible for federal financial aid.
O.M. Jeffrey Memorial Scholarship
Presented to students in good moral and academic standing at the junior class level or above with preference given to residents of northeast Nebraska.
Nellie and Ed Jensen Memorial Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to students studying education with preference given to elementary education majors. The recipients must maintain cumulative 3.000 GPAs or above, and be sophomore or higher in class standing. Recipients must demonstrate financial need and responsibility by working.
Clarence and Dolores Johnson Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a student who shows satisfactory academic progress within his/her major and is actively involved in campus and community activities. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and a strong work ethic by contributing to tuition.
Cleo and Shirley Frick Johnson Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to students showing promise in business and/or health care.
Dr. Norman J. Johnson Memorial Fund (MFHE)
Presented to students who are planning careers in denominational work and are committed to the SDA church. The recipients should be actively involved in campus and community activities. Students should demonstrate financial need, high moral, ethical and behavioral standards, and be in good academic standing.
Rudolph and Elsie Johnson Memorial Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to students in good social and academic standing. Recipients must have a good work ethic, financial need and maintain a minimum 2.750 GPA.
Volney E. and Lila Hall Johnson Memorial Scholarship
Presented to nursing students, with preference to those from the Wichita, Kansas area, who demonstrate financial need.
Kafrouni-Durrant Nursing Scholarship
Presented to a junior or senior with a 3.000 GPA or above who displays good moral and behavioral values and is an active member of the Nursing Student Association. Financial need is also a consideration.
Ishak Hanna Kafrouni Memorial Scholarship
Presented to a sophomore or junior theology major taking at least 12 credit hours per semester with a minimum 3.250 GPA. The recipient must demonstrate leadership ability, be involved in witnessing to others, and have well-defined goals based on a true interest in and concern for others.
Kaufmann-Cummings Foundation Scholarship (NICF)
Presented to a Nebraska resident with a cumulative GPA of 3.000 or above who has demonstrated financial need and is in good social standing. First preference given to students from Hall County, Nebraska.
Kawasaki Motors Mfg. Corp USA Scholarship (NICF)
The recipient must be a full-time sophomore or higher in class standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.000. Selection is not based on financial need. Recipients must be U.S. citizens and residents of Nebraska. First preference given to students who are studying engineering and second preference to students majoring in business, finance, or other areas related to the manufacturing field.
John Kerbs Memorial Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to students who show promise of success in their area of study, exhibit a commitment to high Christian standards, and demonstrate special financial need. The president of Union College chooses the recipients of this scholarship.
David and Carol Killion Nursing Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a junior or senior nursing student with a minimum 3.000 GPA. The recipient must demonstrate financial need.
William and Jacque Kuehl Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a sophomore or higher in class standing with a 2.500 GPA or above. Freshmen will be considered. The recipient must show satisfactory progress within his/her chosen major, be actively involved in campus/community activities, and demonstrate financial need and a strong work ethic by contributing to his/her educational expenses.
Dr. Robert and Teresa Laing Health Science Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a sophomore or higher in class standing who exhibits solid Christian values and is majoring in the area of health science. The recipient must show satisfactory academic progress within his/her chosen major with a minimum 3.000 GPA. Preference will be given to a student who has participated in medical service during an overseas mission trip. The recipient must demonstrate financial need.
Frank and Nellie Corliss Lake Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to sophomores or higher in class standing with a 3.000 GPA or above. Priority will be given to students who come from rural or small town backgrounds. The recipients must demonstrate financial need and display good moral and behavioral values.
Jerome and Ramona Larsen Lang Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a sophomore or higher in class standing majoring in business. The recipient should be involved in SIFE and have a minimum 2.500 GPA. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and a strong work ethic by contributing toward tuition.
William Dale Leech Award
Presented to encourage the development of additional interest in science and mathematics.
Charles R. Leffler Scholarship
Presented to a junior or senior theology major actively preparing for the ministry who is in good social and academic standing. The recipient must also demonstrate financial need.
Charles Leffler Family Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a junior or senior education major in good social and academic standing who demonstrates financial need.
Lincoln Management Society Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a business major with a minimum 3.000 GPA. The recipient must be a sophomore or higher in class standing.
Polly Lindsey Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to recipients who show satisfactory progress within their chosen majors, demonstrate financial need and a strong work ethic by contributing to tuition, and are actively involved in campus and community activities.
Isabel Lovell Memorial Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a promising student who has financial need and is willing to work for his/her tuition. The recipient must display high Christian values. Students from South Dakota will be given preference.
Henry A. Lund Strength of Mind and Character Scholarship
Presented to a science/math or health sciences major with a 3.5 GPA. Preference will be given to pre-dental or biology majors.

Presented to junior or senior fine arts or humanities majors, with preference given to students in good academic standing and deserving of financial assistance.

Presented to students planning careers in denominational work. Students must be actively involved in campus and community activities and be in good social and academic standing. The recipients must demonstrate financial need and possess the characteristics of integrity, enthusiasm and a sincere caring attitude toward people. The recipients must also be committed to the SDA church and demonstrate high moral, ethical and behavioral standards.

Presented to a junior or senior nursing major in good social and academic standing. The recipient must demonstrate financial need, display a positive attitude toward learning, and show promise of future contributions to nursing and society.
Avery and Arline McTaggart Dick Union College Scholarship Fund (MFHE)
Presented to students who have successfully completed at least 24 college credit hours at Union College and have a 2.500 GPA or above. The recipients must be members in good standing and show commitment to the Seventh-day Adventist church and the service of others. The students must also be frugal and conservative in financial management, exhibit good work ethics, and demonstrate financial need.

Presented to sophomores or higher in class standing with a minimum 2.500 GPA. The recipients must show satisfactory academic progress within their chosen majors, demonstrate financial need and a strong work ethic by contributing to their tuition.

Presented to a student who shows satisfactory academic progress within a chosen major. The student must demonstrate financial need and be involved in and supportive of campus and community activities.

Presented to sophomore or junior business education majors carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester, preferably from the MAUC. Recipients should exhibit scholastic achievement and the potential to become good teachers. Students must demonstrate financial need.

Presented to students in good academic standing with a minimum 2.500 GPA who display good moral and behavioral values and demonstrate financial need.
Dr. Charles Plumb Science Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to chemistry majors, though students pursuing degrees in science related fields will also be considered. Recipients must maintain a GPA of 3.000 or above, demonstrate financial need, and exhibit responsibility by working.

Presented to junior or senior theology majors with a 3.000 GPA or above who show leadership ability, are of good moral standing, and demonstrate financial need.

Presented to students working far more than average to contribute to tuition. The president of Union College chooses the recipients of this scholarship.

Presented to business majors with a minimum GPA of 3.250. The recipients must demonstrate financial need.
Public High School Scholarship
Presented to a public high school graduate who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree, and who is willing to earn $1,500 during the school year.
Aaron and Kerri Purkeypile Scholarship
Available to business and nursing majors of sophomore standing or higher who maintain a 3.0 GPA. The recipient must have a strong moral, Christ-like character and demonstrate financial need. Preference given to students who served as task force workers, student missionaries, or traveled on the nursing mission trip.
Quivey Bay State Foundation Scholarship (NICF)
Presented to Nebraska residents in good academic and social standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.000 or above.
Ellsworth Reile Memorial Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a sophomore or higher in class standing with a minimum 2.500 GPA. Freshmen with satisfactory secondary school grades and test scores will be considered. The recipient must contribute to his/her educational expenses.

Presented to a sophomore or higher in class standing who is pursuing a degree in business/computer science or a math-related field with a minimum 3.400 GPA. The recipient must demonstrate a strong work ethic by contributing to tuition and be actively involved in campus and community activities.

Presented to a resident in the western three-fourths of the state of Nebraska who is majoring in business and has entrepreneurship qualities. The recipient must be in good academic standing and in need of financial assistance.

Presented to graduating seniors who demonstrate a strong work ethic and contribute to their tuition. Recipients must show satisfactory academic progress with a minimum 3.000 GPA.
Cree and Mildred Sandefur Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to students studying theology who show promise for successful pastoral careers. The recipients must be sophomores or higher in class standing with a minimum 2.500 GPA, who exhibit good work and study habits and demonstrate financial need.

Presented to a theology major actively preparing for the ministry. The student must be in good social and academic standing, demonstrate financial need, and display a strong work ethic by contributing to his/her tuition.

Presented to a student who is accepted into the international rescue and relief program. This scholarship is renewable and may first be awarded during the sophomore class year. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and maintain at least a 3.000 GPA.

Presented to a student who is in good academic standing who shows a commitment to the Seventh-day Adventist church. The recipient must complete 18 credit hours with a minimum GPA of 2.500. The student must demonstrate financial need or exhibit high scholastic ability.

Presented to a senior business major who has achieved high academic standards, exhibited strong leadership skills, shown a commitment to the SDA church and denominational employment, and demonstrated a personal interest in health care and the Adventist Health System. Students must also demonstrate integrity, enthusiasm and a sincere caring attitude toward people.

Presented to students with high Christian, ethical, moral, behavioral and academic standards. Recipients must demonstrate financial need and have shown themselves to be financially responsible.
Jonathan C. Walker Memorial Scholarship
Presented to a dedicated Christian who lives out Biblical principles in all aspects of his/her life. They must be a service-oriented person who is known and respected on campus as someone who focuses on others. The recipient should be active in church-related community outreach, and have an appreciation for nature.
Steven Warren Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a junior or senior business administration major with a minimum 3.250 GPA. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and be actively involved in campus and community activities. First preference will be given to students with a finance emphasis, followed by an emphasis in accounting.
Jay Camron Washam Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a student studying in the Division of Humanities, with preference given to students majoring in history. The recipient must demonstrate outstanding academic abilities and display good character and integrity. Financial need is a consideration, but will not overrule a love for learning and academic ability.
Lowell and Viola Welch Scholarship Fund (MFHE)
Presented to students who demonstrate financial need and academic ability, together with personal drive, to achieve goals. The recipients must give evidence of having or desiring life missions and career goals for God and mankind.
The Auber Westphal Scholarship (MFHE)
Presented to a full-time international student with preference given to a student from Southeast Asia and the Orient. The recipient must be a major in the Division of Health Sciences with a minimum 3.000 GPA. He/she must work consistently on campus throughout the year. Preference is given to upperclassmen, although freshmen and sophomore students are still eligible.

Presented to a sophomore or higher in class standing who maintains a minimum 2.500 GPA. Freshmen with grades and test scores indicating success in college will also be considered. The recipient must demonstrate satisfactory academic progress and financial need.

Presented to students who are from the Iowa/Missouri Conference, preferably majoring in theology. Consideration will be given to students majoring in education, pre-medicine, computer science or nursing. Recipients must be in good academic standing and show commitment to the Seventh-day Adventist church. They must also be known to be frugal and conservative in financial management and demonstrate this capability. Recipients must be of sophomore class standing or above with a minimum 3.000 GPA, demonstrate financial need, and display strong work ethics by contributing to educational expenses.
