Dr. Vinita Sauder was appointed as Union College's 29th president in 2014. She has extensive experience as an educator, researcher and administrator, beginning her career in education as a professor in business and management. Prior to accepting the position at Union College, she served for 17 years in vice presidential roles at Southern Adventist University in Tennessee, a sister institution to Union College. These roles included strategic initiatives, academic administration, marketing, enrollment and financial aid.

Dr. Sauder earned a bachelor's degree in journalism, an MBA from the University of Tennessee, and a doctorate in educational leadership from Andrews University. She is a graduate of the Institute for Educational Management at Harvard University's School of Education.

She serves as a board member for AdventHealth, for Christian Record Services for the Blind, for the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists, for the Mid-America Union, for the College View Church, and for the Kansas-Nebraska Conference. Dr. Sauder is also the chair of the Council for Independent Nebraska Colleges and the past chair of the Association for Adventist Colleges and Universities. She serves as presidential sponsor for the Nebraska Women in Higher Education Leadership.

Her husband Greg is retired after a fulfilling career at Mckee Foods and the Plant Services department at the college. The Sauders have two married sons?Nick is a senior business analyst at Adventist Health in Sacramento, and Dustin has joined the college workforce as Campus Safety Director. Dr. Sauder's main hobby these days is enjoying visits with her three grandchildren.
