SARA GROVES IN CONCERT AT
UNION COLLEGE
LINCOLN–On
Sunday, Nov. 3, Union College will host a concert by Christian recording artist
and song writer Sara Groves. The
concert will take place at College View Church located at the corners of 48th
and Prescott at 7:30 p.m. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m.
Musically,
Groves has been described as being reminiscent of Shawn Colvin and Sarah
McLachlan and has been compared to the late Christian artist Rich Mullins.
Groves
grew up in Springfield, Mo., where she worked as a Taco Bell cashier and
attended Evangel University. A
1994 graduate, Groves taught history and English at a public high school in
Minnesota before becoming a full-time musician in the spring of 1998.
Groves’
1998 debut album Past the Wishing is
known as one of Christian music’s best-selling, independent recordings of
all time. She has appeared on
Billy Graham’s “Decision Today” radio program and has been
featured in an article in CCM Magazine. Her song “Generations” has been as high as number three
on the inspirational charts. Currently, she performs over 120 dates per year
and has released a second album called Conversations.
Tickets
are available in advance at Family Christian bookstores for $15 or at the door
for $17. Children 12 years and under are free.
