ANDREW PETERSON IN CONCERT
AT UNION COLLEGE
On
Friday, Nov. 15, Union College will feature Christian folk singer and
songwriter Andrew Peterson in concert.
The concert will take place at College View Church located on the corner
of 48th and Prescott at 7:30 p.m. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m.
Peterson’s
musical style has been to compared to that of the late Christian recording
artist Rich Mullins, who is also Peterson’s musical mentor. Peterson uses a variety of instruments
to create his folk music, including the guitar, hammered dulcimer, piano, organ
and cello.
Peterson
has recorded several albums, including Carried Along in 2000 and Clear to Venus in 2001.
Carried Along, his first
national Watershed Records release, became a top ten album on the Adult
Contemporary Soundscan Sales Chart in 2000 and ranked above artists such as Red
Hot Chili Peppers, Sting, and the Backstreet Boys on the Billboard Magazine Internet Sales Chart. His 2001 release Clear to Venus was named one of the Top 5 Albums of 2001 by CCM
Magazine. Peterson has also toured with other well-known
Christian artists such as Caedmon’s Call, Bebo Norman, and Fernando
Ortega. He performs an average of
150 dates a year, including performances in L.A.’s House of Blues and Harvard’s Memorial Theater.
The Friday evening concert is open to the community,
and tickets are free; however, a $5 donation will be greatly appreciated.
