It's January 28; Good Morning Union
“Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, nor the strong man his strength, or the rich man boast in his riches.” Jeremiah 9:23
Penned by Jeremiah about 2500 years ago and quoted by Paul in his first letter to the believers in Corinth, I found today another reminder of how I can keep my focus and my priorities on the right place/Person. Boasting is drawing extra attention to something- usually myself- and the prophet is pretty clear about it—DON’T (with one exception!) But I don’t want to be so negative as to focus on what NOT to boast about; what is the exception that he say I CAN boast about?
“But let him who boasts boast about this, that he understands and knows this about Me (God). That I am the Lord who exercises:
Because that’s what I delight in,” says God. In my insecurities, because I believe those are the ONLY times I feel the need to “boast,” I beg you to notice my outsides- strength, riches, and my brilliance- or whatever. But I hear God reminding me this morning that when I feel the need to draw attention to something, I should draw that attention away from me and toward a CLEARER understanding of Him. That He is kind, and just, and righteous. With that I am encouraged with my own self-worth because He lavishes those three things on ME! No insecurities or need to boast about me when I focus on what He delights in!
Have a great day boasting about the Best,
