It's March 21; Good Morning Union
“If My people, who are called by my name…” 2 Chronicles 7:14
A continuation of yesterday with the book, divided into two books, that tells the second half of the Old Testament journey. It’s got a lot of familiar stories- Solomon builds the temple; Jehoshaphat defeating the Moabites and Ammonites with the choir; two boy kings, Joash who rebuilt the walls of the temple and Josiah who started his reign at 8 years old and was one of the few kings who are described as “doing what was right in the eyes of the Lord.” But God’s answer to the prayer of Solomon at the dedication of the temple is probably the most famous verse of the book.
“If My people will:
1. humble themselves
2. and pray
3. and seek my face
4. and turn from their wicked ways,
Then I will:
1. hear from heaven
2. forgive their sins
3. and heal their land.”
That’s a pretty clear ‘if-then’ promise! Though I still believe that NOTHING earns me salvation and the love of God, there DOES appear to be some correlation between my intentional decisions regarding God and His ability/willingness to do great things for me. If only Solomon would have listened! But I guess I can say the same about me! Imagine what would happen if I did? Or, better yet I look back with joy and thankfulness as I see what happens when I do!
Have a great day setting the stage for God’s blessings,
Quote for the day: “What the world counts as worthless God counts as treasure!”
