“Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart, and don’t just lean on your own wisdom and understanding. In everything you do acknowledge Him as your Source of everything, and He will bless you and lead you down the best paths.”           Proverbs 3:5,6  PRV

Second day of exams—same prayers for you all!

“If any of you lack wisdom, then ask God who gives to all generously; but ask in faith, with no doubting.” James 1

First day of exams. My prayers are with you that God will give you good recall of all that you have studied (and a bit of grace thrown if for all that you SHOULD HAVE studied! J)

Have a great day trusting God for strength,

Pastor Rich

“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, thought you be small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for Me One who is to be ruler over Israel.”      Micah 5:2

The names of our Messiah were Jesus and Immanuel. The place He was to be born was predicted hundreds of years before, also with two names—Bethlehem and Ephrathah! I’ve heard the first one many times (and even visited there which was quite the spiritual treat!), but the second one, not so much.

“You shall call His name Jesus, because he will save His people from their sins.”  Matthew 1:21

I was reminded yesterday morning of two names the baby was given- Jesus, in verse 21, and Immanuel, in verse 23. BOTH have significant meaning and helped me focus on the “reason for the season,” so I thought I would write about them this morning!

“There is now therefore no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:1

What a great reminder at this time of the year that BECAUSE Jesus came to this earth to fulfill the law, provide me an example and be my surety for salvation, that I can KNOW that I am NOT condemned IF I choose to remain “in Christ Jesus.” I may make mistakes (no, I DO make misteaks!) but God is eager to forgive AND to “cleanse me from ALL unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)

“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given.”         Isaiah 9:6

After yesterday’s “providential” opening of the Bible to the “snow verse,” I just kept looking at other things Isaiah had to say and I came upon an equally famous “Christmas verse” this morning! I was captured by the four prophetic names He gave Jesus:

“Wonderful Counselor”- He will guide me, if I wish,

“Mighty God”- He will be my strength, if I let Him,

“’Come now let us reason together,’ says the Lord. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.’”                Isaiah 1:18

“Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.”           Romans 12:11

And how, pray tell, do I do that? I think I might have said this before, maybe a hundred times or more! “If it’s important to God, it’s clear in His word!” This must be important to God because I found at least 15 specific things listed around this verse that help me understand how to keep my zeal and spiritual fervor for the Lord:

“Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.”              Romans 12:9
