“Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.”                Philippians 2: 12

This could make a good test question—How do you “work out your own salvation?” I thought it wasn’t about works!? That’s like memorizing one fact and trying to answer all questions on a test with one part of an answer. Read the chapter!! Understand the whole big picture! Or, in this case, read the whole verse!

Test week- short GMUs—study hard—don’t forget to spend some time with God!

“In your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience.”            1 Peter 3:15-16

“Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sin is covered.”              Psalm 32:1

Just reviewing this psalm that I learned a long time ago. There is so much in it.

1.       Blessed also means happy! I’ll be happy when

a.       My transgressions are forgiven

b.      My sins are covered

“Pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words.”              Proverbs 4:20

I was reminded last night, at the CVA constituency meeting, of the importance of focusing on that which is MOST important. Solomon had many bits of wisdom, maybe from all his experience with messing life up, that I can take advantage of SO THAT I don’t have to repeat his failures. This piece is SO important that he stresses it four times:

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ he is a new creature…” 2 Corinthians 5:17 When I am “in Christ” it will be evident. I say that as a work-in-progress; a journey; a process, not as a perfect end product. I will be a “new creature.” And Paul defines that “new creature” in this way: 1. The old has gone 2. The new has come

“Therefore put on the full armor of God…”          Ephesians 6: 13-18

A very famous section of Paul’s letter to the believers in Ephesus. I’m not sure all the pieces of armor are still as important as they were in a first century battle, but the meaning of those pieces as described by Paul are just as significant:
