Good Morning Union

It's September 4; Good Morning Union

“Finally, brothers (and sisters!),…”           Philippians 4:8

“Let me sum it up,” says Paul. It’s all about attitude and focus. In the margin of my Bible I have writing beside these verses, “God’s screening system.” When I’m having a hard time with the “attitude and focus,” I often come back to this place. If I only had one verse from the Bible to help me remember where the “attitude and focus” should be placed it would be this one.

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!”  Philippians 4:4

It must be important because Paul repeats himself! And HOW do I “rejoice in the Lord always?” One of my bottom-line approaches to the Bible-- If it’s important to God, it’s clear in His word:

1.            “Let your gentleness be evident to all

2.            Do not be anxious about anything

“I’m not perfect yet, but one thing I do…”            Philippians 3:13

So, here’s Paul’s philosophy of spiritual living:

                1.            “forgetting what’s behind

“I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.”    Philippians 3:8

“Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.”          Philippians 2:5

So, there’s the goal- have the same attitude of Jesus. And what was that “attitude?”

1.            “…In the very nature of God;

2.            Took on the very nature of man;

3.            Gave His life for us;

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.”        Philippians 2:3

“And this is my prayer for you…”               Philippians 1:9

“In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy…”          Philippians 1:4

Welcome back! OR, welcome for the first time if you are just joining our school family. For my 16th year I am writing Good Morning Union as a way of illustrating to you the faithfulness of God when we choose to spend time with Him, AND to provide a unifying focus for all of us as we make this school year the greatest experience possible- with God!!

It's May 7; Good Morning Union (for the last time this school year!)

“The revelation—OF JESUS CHRIST.”       Revelation 1:1

Perfect timing- last book of the Bible; last day of school, and last GMU for another year!! Did you know that my text for today is the first verse of the last book of the Bible? It’s not just the book of Revelation, it’s the book of the “Revelation of Jesus Christ!”

It's May 6; Good Morning Union

“To Him who is able to keep you from falling…”  Jude 24

Today, and tomorrow, and this school year is history!! I have mixed emotions! Happy for you; sad for me; it gets really boring around here when you are gone. But I’m glad to see you moving on and growing both professionally and spiritually.
