Larson Lifestyle Center

The Larson Lifestyle Center mission is to provide a fitness and aquatic facility with courteous, dependable and knowledgeable assistance for the improved health of our patrons, all for the glory of God.

Weight and fitness room hours:

Sunday: 7:00 a.m.-9:00 a.m.; 3:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. 

Monday-Thursday: 5:45 a.m.-10:00 p.m. 

Friday: 5:45 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (Closing time is 5:30 p.m. March-Oct.)

Lap Swim schedule:

Sunday: 7:00 a.m.-9:00 a.m.; 3:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. 

Monday-Thursday: 5:45 a.m.-9:00 a.m.; 11:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m.; 3:30 p.m.-7:15 p.m.

Sunday: 3:00 pm-9:50 pm (Year Around) 

Monday-Thursday: 7:15 pm-9:50 pm (Year Around)

 * Lanes are available for lap swimming.

Membership is free for Union College students and available for a fee to the community on a quarterly, semi-annual and annual basis. To purchase a membership, stop by the front desk of the Lifestyle Center. The following rates have been in effect since of June 1, 2008:

Note: A 10-percent senior citizen discount is given to people 55 and older.

All memberships will be pro-rated to expire at the end of the month. Monthly memberships will be pro-rated to the end of the current month, plus the fee for the following months. 

Membership fees entitle the user to unlimited use of the facilities during regularly scheduled hours. 

For Annual Members: Water aerobic classes are free and swim lessons are discounted.

Pro Shop consists of bathing suits and trunks; goggles; swim caps; nose plugs; ear plugs; shampoos and conditioners; aqua shoes and sandals; swim mitts and training fins; weight lifting gloves; tennis, badminton and racquetball racquets; and balls.

Name brands carried are Speedo, Ocean, Dunlop, Cannon Sports Inc. and Ektelon products.

The plans and financing of the Larson Lifestyle Center were voted on in January 1977. Architect Larry Enersen of Clark & Enersen was hired in January and the finances were approved in February of that year. 

A construction contractor was hired and construction began in May of 1978. Construction was projected to be completed September 1979. In the summer of 1981, the pool opened for student use as well as for community swimming lessons. 

In May 1981, the Union College Health Complex became officially known as the Larson Lifestyle Center, named after a physician by the name of Dr. Ernest Larson, who gave generously for the completion of the complex.
