The Lincoln Organ Showcase will feature a performance by Dr. Kraig Scott on the College View Seventh-day Adventist Church's Rieger organ on Oct. 16 at 3:00 p.m.
The College View Seventh-day Adventist Church's Austrian-built Rieger organ has been selected to be part of the 2011-12 Lincoln Organ Showcase. On Sunday, Oct. 16, at 3:00 p.m., the Lincoln Chapter of the American Guild of Organists in collaboration with Union College and the College View church will present a concert by Dr. Kraig Scott.
Scott, an internationally acclaimed organist and professor of organ at Walla Walla University, will perform music penned by the German romantic composer Johannes Brahms, who wrote comparatively little music for organ.
“I find this music full of winsome beauty and quiet hope,” he said. “While the Rieger organ at College View church is Austrian rather than German, I hope the Teutonic nature of the music will feel at home with this organ that derives from the same general area of Europe.”
Dr. Scott will also include a piece by the English composer Charles Hubert Hastings Parry.
The College View Seventh-day Adventist Church is located at the corner of 48th and Prescott on the campus of Union College. Tickets will be available at the door for $15, with senior rates available. For more information, visit www.lincolnorganshowcase.org
