New building site now closed to vehicle and foot traffic

Signs of construction work have been popping up all across campus over the past five months as workers prepare parking, infrastructure and utilities for the new science and mathematics complex. On May 8, workers erected a fence around the construction zone, which will affect access to several buildings on the north side of campus.

The fence encompasses the Rees Hall parking lot, the Woods Auditorium parking area and the parking between Rees and the Larson Lifestyle Center known as “The Pit.” The fence also blocks access to Bancroft Street between 49th and 51st. Students, employees and guests who normally park in these lots will need to park in the new lots on the the north side of Bancroft Street or in the lot on the east side of the Don Love Building (accessed from 52nd Street).

Starting today, there is limited access to the back doors of Rees Hall. After May 16, there will be no access to those back doors for about two months. The school plans to have this area open by the beginning of August for residence hall move ins.

Visitors to Woods Auditorium should park in the lot east of the Don Love building accessed from 52nd Street and enter through the Atrium.  The main entrance to Woods Auditorium will still be accessible from the center of campus.

Larson Lifestyle Center patrons may continue to park in the customer lot on the south side of the building and enter through the main doors.

Students will no longer be able to access the Nursing Annex through the main door. All students should park in the lot east of the Don Love Building and enter through the back door on the east side of the building.

Building progress can now be viewed 24 hours a day on UCLive’s construction cam overlooking the building site. Click here to view (Note: You must have a media player capable of playing Windows Media streams).
