Join the Union College alumni office and young alumni photographers for a reception celebrating the Young Alumni Photography Exhibit on Sept. 23 from 7:00-8:30 p.m.
Now on display in the McClelland Art Gallery, the third annual exhibit—themed “Joy”—is made up of photographs taken by alumni from the last ten years (or so). “We’ve targeted mainly graphic design majors and people who took pictures for the Clocktower, our campus newspaper, but you can be a business major and have an artistic nature,” said Kenna Lee Carlson, Union’s alumni director. “We simply targeted the young alumni and put the word out on Facebook.”
Originally planned for the summer, organizers felt Union College students would enjoy learning more about their forerunners. “This exhibit is something we can do to get students and alumni interested in connecting with each other in a slightly different way than perhaps if they were just going to a meeting or basketball game together.” Carlson said. “This way they have something to share.”
The exhibit features the work of Taumi Baker, Mariela Cosentino, Scott Cushman, Ryan Widicker, Liv Pedersen Jacobson, Chris Johnson, Linangely Perez Kerbs, Ryan Lindbeck, Bryon Lippincott, Anna Hartfield McMillen, Ed Mejia, Miguel Nunez, Sara Arnott Pote, and Richard Young. To see their work online, visit Union College’s Facebook page.
Located in the Ortner Center, the McClelland Art Gallery is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. The Young Alumni Photography Exhibit will be on display through Oct. 7.
