EBSCOhost Introduces Mobile App for Database Searching

EBSCOhost recently released a mobile app for searching the company's databases on an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad.  A mobile app for Android will be available soon.

Every year, the students at George Stone School help train new educators.

Graduation 2011

During Sunday’s ceremony, Union College conferred 203 degrees to 194 students, including 21 students graduating with a Master of Physician Assistant Studies. Union’s class of 2011 represents seven countries, 35 states, and one US territory. Of the 32 different majors earned, the most popular are nursing with 40 graduates and international rescue and relief with 30.

College president to take pastoral position


David Smith, president of Union College, and his wife, Cherie, will leave Lincoln this summer to take positions on the pastoral staff of the Collegedale Adventist Church in Tennessee.

Library Hours Extended April 25 to May 3

The library will be open until 11 p.m. Monday thru Thursday, April 25-28, and Sunday thru Tuesday, May 1-3 to accommodate those needing longer hours to finish class projects and to study.

Getting Acquainted with Dr. Amy Utt-Rickard

Dr. Amy Utt was born in California, but spent much of her young life in other states, including four years of her early life living in Lincoln, Nebaska. Dr. Utt graduated from Pacific Union College in 2001. Between college and graduate school, Dr. Utt interned at the Oregon Zoo in Portland, Oregon, with the Birds of Prey Program. Her experience working with birds fueled her desire to go back to school. She moved back to California and obtained her Ph.D. at Loma Linda University.

Dr. Frankie Rose Comes to Teach at Union

Dr. Frankie Rose was born and raised in Missouri. He graduated from Sunnydale Academy and lived in Missouri until he came to Union College to study Biology. He completed his B.S. degree in 2002. Rose then went on to the University of Missouri where, in 2009, he completed his Ph.D. in Microbiology. Rose’s main focus was Human Molecular Genetics. He spent 2010 doing Postdoctoral Research at the University of Missouri .

Debbie Eno is the Library's Teacher of the Year for 2011

Congratulations to Debbie Eno, winner of the library's Teacher of the Year Award for 2011. Debbie makes frequent use of the library's resources for both personal research and teaching. She strongly encourages student use of the library, particulary through the Nursing Research course. Debbie will receive $500 spending credit for selecting new library materials during the 2011-2012 academic year.

Art sale to fight human trafficking

On Sunday, April 17, Union College will host an arts and crafts sale to benefit Tiny Hands International, a Lincoln-based organization dedicated to stopping human trafficking in Nepal, India and Bangladesh. The second annual “Tiny Hands, Big Hearts” sale will take place from 1:00-5:00 p.m. in the atrium of the Don Love Building on the campus of Union College.
