Michael English to perform for "Family Worship" on Friday, Jan. 17

Award winning christian musician Michael English will perform live in concert at Union College this Friday, Jan. 17, at 7:30 p.m. for Family Worship vespers.  The concert is open to the public and free of charge.

English is currently on a solo tour of the U.S. promoting his latest album, Some People Change. According to his website, English’s own life story enables him to share music that ministers to others “as a living testimony of God’s promises to work all things for good.”

More than practice: pastoring practicum builds real-world connections

“Even in the first week, I’ve seen God work in so many ways this semester, and it has been such a blessing,” said Hector Melendez, student pastor for Maplewood Academy and the Hutchinson church in Minnesota. “We had a spiritual retreat with the academy, and God poured Himself out. For five hours these students just studied the Bible. We gave them the opportunity to leave, but they wanted to stay, and we were all just bombarded with Jesus. That’s the kind of event that has had a year-long effect on these kids.”

Dick Duerksen to speak for Power Pac

“He’s gone everywhere and tells stories like nobody’s business,” said Kelli Vigil, vespers coordinator. By multiple students’ request, Dick Duerksen, photographer and storyteller for Maranatha Volunteers International, will speak for Power Pac this weekend from Oct. 31-Nov. 2, beginning on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Elden Ramirez to speak for October Power Pac

For Elden Ramirez, mission work isn’t just his job, it's in his name. “My mom named me after Edlen Ford, an Adventist missionary,” he chuckled. Now as the director of volunteer ministries for the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists, he helps students find ways to experience mission service for themselves.

Every year, nearly 800 Union College students and employees take the day off from school to serve the Lincoln community. This year Project Impact served at nearly 70 sites around Lincoln, helping out the service organizations that serve the people of Lincoln all year long. 

Leonard Sweet to speak for PowerPac weekend

“Protestantism is known for its work ethic,” said Leonard Sweet. “As we come to the 500th anniversary of Protestantism in 2017, it is worth pondering how well this work ethic has served us, and whether or not we have lost a ‘play ethic.’”

Audrey Assad to peform Friday, Sept. 6

Audrey Assad, winner of the 2010 iTunes Christian Breakthrough Album of the Year, will perform at Union College on September 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the College View Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Iki Taimi to speak for first Friday evening service

The school year is almost upon Union College, and with it, 26 Sabbaths to enjoy. Vespers coordinator Kelli Vigil and Union for Christ director Tyler Morrison have prepared a schedule of powerful musical talent and deep spiritual speakers to help Union College campus discover or build a stronger relationship with Jesus.

Easter week events to culminate in Resurrection Pageant

During the week celebrated by the Christian world commemorating the final events in the life of Christ, including his death and resurrection, Union College students will be able to follow the story at a series of events throughout the week highlighted by a Resurrection Pageant, which will unfold on March 30 on the Union College campus, with tours starting every 20 minutes between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.
