Union student lands Washington internship

When senior White House policy analyst Allan Manuel visited Union College in November 2012 to encourage students to explore a career in civil service, Iliana Panameno couldn’t attend his chapel talk. But with Manuel’s help, Panameno, a senior social work major, will spend the summer as an intern at the Institute for Philanthropy and Voluntary Service in Washington, D.C.

Writing students connect with orphans through stories

For students in Jill Morstad’s Basic Skills in English class, learning became much more real than learning how to order words on a page.  This spring, the 16 students undertook an unusual project to benefit orphans at the Pan American Health Service, Inc.’s orphanage in Peña Blanca, Honduras, while enhancing their own communication skills.

Library Subscribes to EBSCOhost's Academic eBook Collection

The library’s ebook collection recently grew by more than 90,000 titles with the acquisition of EBSCOhost’s Academic eBook Collection. This collection is the ebook equivalent of the article database Academic Search Premier.

Finding the right school at the right time.

“In October 2009, my nursing advisor at Southeast Community College said they would put my name on the list, and I could probably start taking nursing classes in 2012,” recalled Damion Caudy. “I left my advisor’s office that day and thought, what am I going to do? I have a daughter at home to support. I have to go to school! Ten or fifteen seconds later, I heard an ad for the Union College nursing program on the radio.”

Union College to host career fair

For Theresa Edgerton, Union’s College’s Career Center Coordinator, a career fair is about surveying options. “Sometimes you find something that sounds more interesting than what you first thought once you take a closer look,” said Edgerton, who put together today’s campus wide career fair. “God works in so many ways—career fairs can be a way He shows you options.”
