Dean's List announced for fall semester of 2011
The Dean's List is one way Union College recognizes the academic achievements of its students. The list is broken into two sections, the regular Dean's List for students who achieved a grade point average between 3.75 and 3.89 on a four-point scale, and the Dean's Distinguished List for those with GPAs between 3.9 and 4.0.

Spare change leads to change of heart
Lauren Kelley, now a first-year student in Union College’s physician assistant studies program, took a long look at the list of unusual ice cream flavors. As a student missionary for the Ambassador’s Medical Outreach and Relief (AMOR) Projects in Peru, a day off was the perfect chance to learn more about the local life.
“I heard someone behind me trying to get my attention,” Kelley said. “I turned, and to this day I can still see his face.”

The reality of those combating cancer—past, present and future—sparks an emotionally reaction in most. For some it also sparks a passion for action.

Mollie Cummings didn’t want to go to college. “I came back from a mission trip to the Philippines my senior year of high school and decided I wanted to be an evangelist,” said the sophomore religious education major from northern Minnesota.
Congratulations 2011-12 class officers
Following a rousing rendition of "Slinga de Ink" at convocation on Sept. 20, 2011, classes met to choose new student leaders for this school year. A far cry from the earnest politicking of ASB elections in the spring, class elections are informal affairs. Nominations are made on the spot, and votes are cast by raised hands. As happy as the winners are to be chosen, the unsuccessful candidates often return to their seats with a smile, knowing they have one less thing to worry about.

Finding a comaraderie with compounds
Before I entered college, I felt terrified. I knew college would be difficult and wondered if I had what it would take to succeed. Now that I’m a senior, I see that even though the coursework can be very demanding, with the help of great professors here at Union, anyone can succeed.
