Merit and Matching Scholarships

Union offers merit and matching scholarships and grants for undergraduate students. Eligibility for full Union College awards and grants requires enrollment for 12 or more hours at Union. Students must be enrolled for at least 6 hours to be eligible for prorated awards and grants.

*First year award renewable at 50 percent per year, applied per semester for up to seven semesters. To be eligible, student must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0+ and be enrolled at Union College for at least 12 credit hours. Students who are taking at least 6 credit hours, but are not full-time may be eligible for a pro-rated award. Students eligible for a donor scholarship must complete the donor scholarship process to receive the full merit award.

First-time freshmen who do not qualify for a Merit Award and complete their financial aid application by the deadline qualify for the Union College Financial Application Grant of $5,500. (Details below.)

*Renewable at 100% per year or $2,500, $1,750 or $1,250, respectively, per semester for up to five additional semesters as long as the student maintains a cumulative GPA of 2.0+ and is enrolled at least 12 credit hours at Union College. Students who are taking at least 6 credit hours, but are not full-time may be eligible for a pro-rated award. Summer Ministries Matching Scholarships

Union offers a summer camp ambassador matching scholarship based on the amount of camp earnings applied to a students account. The scholarship is based on a match of 75 cents for every earned dollar up to a maximum of $1,200.

Students who attend Union for a second year and who have worked at the same MAUC territory camp for at least two summers will be eligible for a match of $1.00, up to a maximum of $1,600. Scholarship recipients must submit a copy of their camp earnings statement to the Student Financial Aid office to validate eligibility.

*Certain task force assignments may qualify for up to $1,000 in additional public relations scholarship money, and student missionaries may receive an additional scholarship for recruiting international students. Contact Enrollment Services for more information: 800.228.4600.


Local Church Matching Grant
Worthy students who receive money on their account directly from a local church qualify for the church matching grant. Union will match 50 cents for each dollar sent from the church up to a maximum match of $1,650 from Union College.  Churches must complete the church matching grant form and agree to comply with IRS regulations governing such transactions.

Financial Aid Application Grant

First-time freshmen who do not qualify for an ACT or GPA merit award listed above are eligible to receive the Union College Financial Aid Application Grant of $5,500 by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the deadline. This is renewable for nine semesters at 50 percent per year as long as the student completes the financial aid application by the deadline AND stays off of academic probation.
