Vision Discussion

The vision statement of the Physician Assistant Program serves to clarify the heart and direction of the program in executing its mission:

The Union College Physician Assistant Program will be recognized for its professionalism, clinical relevance, academic excellence, and responsible servanthood, enabling students to joyfully practice in primary care health services oriented to underserved communities. (Union College PA Program Vision Statement)

The greatest needs in the health care communities of our country and world continue to be in primary care, with significant trends consistently demonstrating shortages in family medicine (especially in rural and inner-city areas). The Union College PA Program is uniquely located in a city with convenient access to both rural and inner-city underserved primary care arenas. The vision of the program leads with this emphasis on primary care in health-care deprived populations.
