It's April 2; Good Morning Union
“I take no pleasure in the death of anyone… repent and live.” Ezekiel 18:32
If yesterday was Jeremiah’s “lamentations” over a destroyed and captive Israel, Ezekiel is, among other things, an explanation of why it happened and what the people could do (or could have done) about it! It was doom for the disobedient with a large dose of desire and direction from their Deliverer!
He talked a lot about a “new heart” needed by the people. A new approach to their lives, a return to the God who wants to save them and deliver them. It was a reality check with a focus on hope. I can relate to that! God is not just a good idea when I can’t think of anything else; or just a magical genie to help me out of tough spots as needed. He needs to be all or I’ll end up with nothing. Israel found that out the hard way. I plan to learn from their mistakes!
Have a great day discovering the value of TOTAL commitment to Him,
And now more from Brennan Manning this week along this same theme!
“Do the truth quietly without display.”
― Brennan Manning
“The Christ within who is our hope of glory is not a matter of theological debate or philosophical speculation. He is not a hobby, a part-time project, a good theme for a book, or a last resort when all human effort fails. He is our life, the most real fact about us. He is the power and wisdom of God dwelling within us.”
― Brennan Manning, Abba's Child: The Cry of the Heart for Intimate Belonging
“The story goes that a public sinner was excommunicated and forbidden entry to the church. He took his woes to God. 'They won't let me in, Lord, because I am a sinner.'
'What are you complaining about?' said God. 'They won't let Me in either.”
