It's April 29; Good Morning Union

“Never tire of doing what is right.”           2 Thessalonians 3:13

What a good reminder, at this time of year when I think we are ALL tired, that one thing I should never get tired of—doing what is right. Behavior has nothing to do with salvation, but it does have a LOT to do with the probability of predicting how positively my life will progress! I know I get tired and at those times I’m most susceptible to defeat. But above all, I want to commit my life to doing what is right, as best I understand it, to the best of my ability, whenever possible, all the time! Life just goes better when I do (or I have a lot better foundation under me when it doesn’t!)

Because my current journey is to look at the date-appropriate book of the Bible, and today is 2 Thessalonians, I found one other insight I’d like to share with you. 2:10 says, “They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.” My ah-ha moment as I read that was, the only way I can perish and miss out on eternal life is if I consciously choose to refuse it. “Loving the truth” results in being saved, according to this text. Consciously choosing to refuse to love that truth results in perishing, or losing out on eternal life. But the assurance I gained again this morning is that everything in between refusing and loving probably ends up on the “being saved” side. I don’t have to have it all figured out; I just have to not refuse it! If I’m struggling with understanding it and/or applying it to my life, MY God has mercy and grace sufficient to save me in my searching. For me He is in the business of trying to find an excuse to save me not keep me out!! Please, at the very least, don’t REFUSE His love!

Have a great day choosing His love (and not tiring of doing good!),
