It's April 7; Good Morning Union
“You should not look down on your brother in the day of his misfortune.” Obadiah 12
Ok, this is one of the shortest books in the Old Testament and I must admit, as I looked at it, I was a bit perplexed about whether I could find anything in it to share with you. But I STILL believe God is faithful to our faithfulness in spending time with Him.
The book is about Judah and Edom- the Jews in Judah were descendants of Jacob; the Edomites in Edom were descendants of Esau; Jacob and Esau were brothers. This book is about Edom perishing for not helping Judah; in other words for not helping family, or closer yet, for not helping brothers.
And my conclusion this morning- I guess we ARE our brother’s keeper!! And when I wonder who my brother is, I refer to the story of the Good Samaritan, which starts out, “And who is my brother?...”
Have a great day caring for and about each other,
Quote for the day- “Prayer is the opening of the heart as to a friend.” EGW
