It's December 3; Good Morning Union
“Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought.” Romans 12: 3
The next theme that I found in Paul’s thoughts to the church members in Rome is- deal with pride as you recognize potential. He lists a whole group of gifts and talents that he says if I have them then I should use them to their max! But I shouldn’t think that I am great, or better than anyone else, if I have them. Just use them to God’s glory, give Him the credit for anything good that comes from them and keep on.
The illustrations he uses to make his point are with bodies, personal and ecclesiastical. Just as my body has many parts and they all do not have the same function (but do function all toward the same goal of keeping me running efficiently and effectively), so the church is made up of many parts and each part should be valued for the part it plays in making the church whole. Whatever part I am I need to be the best part I can be because the rest of the body is depending on me. And whatever part of the body I see in you I must value and build you up so that you can be the best part you can be which ensures that both or all of us benefits!
No one is better so, “don’t think of yourself more highly than you ought.” And no one is worse so, “think of each part carefully as God has given you understanding and faith.” I need to just be the best “part” I can be, and support all the other “parts” in what they are SO THAT we all win in Him.
Have a great day humbly being a good “part,”
Quote for the day: “The strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team.”
