It's February 7; Good Morning Union
“Let us go with you, because we have heard that God is with you.” Zechariah 8:23
Here is evangelism at its best!! The whole verse says, “In those days ten men from all languages and nations will take firm hold of one Jew by the edge of his robe and say, ‘Let us go with you, because we have heard that God is with you.’” It really says that! I tried to paint a visual picture of this verse and quite honestly, it made me laugh! There stands a Jewish man with 10 people from all different nationalities grabbing him by his pant leg, sleeve and collar begging him to let them go with him, BECAUSE THEY HEARD THAT GOD WAS WITH HIM!
I wonder what it was about that dear Jewish man that caused the strangers to think that by going with him they would be going with God? I’d like to know because I’d like to be like the Jewish man! As I read a couple chapters before my verse of the day I found the following characteristics that God used to describe the Jewish man (and his community):
1. He administered justice
2. He showed mercy
3. He showed compassion
4. He was kind to the widow, the fatherless and the poor
5. He spoke truth
6. He rendered true and sound judgment
7. He did not plot evil
8. He sought the Lord Almighty
And as he was just going about his life, living it the way God called him to live it, ten guys grabbed him because he apparently looked either a lot like God or looked like he was heading toward God! What if I just made choices in my life that showed justice, mercy, compassion, kindness, honesty, goodness to everyone AND it was clear that I was “seeking the Lord.” And then I kept my eyes open in case 10 guys jump me and say, “If that’s what following God looks like we want to go with you!” J I think that would be kinda cool! How ‘bout you?
Have a great day just living like God wants and intentionally connecting with Him,
