It's January 14; Good Morning Unon

“All Scripture is God-breathed.”                2 Timothy 3:16

If I’m going to focus on discipleship- being a disciple, or follower, of Jesus then I better start with the most basic reference on how to accomplish that task. This is the first verse that came to mind as I started contemplating the process.

“All Scripture”- I don’t get to pick and choose what I like and what I want to ignore. I need to “Search the Scriptures… because THEY are what testify of Me,” says Jesus (John 5:39.) If I want to follow Jesus then I need to go to the Bible as my primary source of guidance. Here’s my text for today broken down, as I so often do, so I can start to grasp all that is in it for me

“ALL Scripture”:

“is God-breathed”- the confidence I can have in the Bible is its claim to be directly from God. “Holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.” (2 Peter 1:21)

“and is profitable”- for four things:

1.            “for teaching”- to show me the way

2.            “for rebuking”- to let me know when I miss the way

3.            “for correcting”- to fix things so I can get back on the way

4.            “for training in righteousness”- and to equip me to stay on the way!

“SO THAT I can be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

That’s the whole verse! That’s the promise of God’s word IF I want to take seriously the journey He has for me, bringing me closer and closer to His image so I can reflect Him more accurately. That’s what I want, how about you?

Have a great day letting God’s word do its thing in your life,

Pastor Rich
