It's March 31; Good Morning Union
“Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, nor the strong man in his strength, or the rich man boast in his riches. But let him who boasts boast about this- that he understands and knows me, that I am the lord who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight.” Jeremiah 9:23-24
I was so inspired by Mike Yankosi last Friday night and his quote from Brennan Manning that I have been going back over the life and writings of this man and have been so blessed by what I have been reading that I’m breaking from my systematic journey through the Bible to I hope bless you with several excerpts from Manning’s writings this week. So today would have been a look at Jeremiah, but instead:
“Because salvation is by grace through faith, I believe that among the countless number of people standing in front of the throne and in front of the Lamb, dressed in white robes and holding palms in their hands (see Revelation 7:9), I shall see the prostitute from the Kit-Kat Ranch in Carson City, Nevada, who tearfully told me that she could find no other employment to support her two-year-old son. I shall see the woman who had an abortion and is haunted by guilt and remorse but did the best she could faced with grueling alternatives; the businessman besieged with debt who sold his integrity in a series of desperate transactions; the insecure clergyman addicted to being liked, who never challenged his people from the pulpit and longed for unconditional love; the sexually abused teen molested by his father and now selling his body on the street, who, as he falls asleep each night after his last 'trick', whispers the name of the unknown God he learned about in Sunday school.
'But how?' we ask.
Then the voice says, 'They have washed their robes and have made them white in the blood of the Lamb.'
There they are. There *we* are - the multitude who so wanted to be faithful, who at times got defeated, soiled by life, and bested by trials, wearing the bloodied garments of life's tribulations, but through it all clung to faith.
My friends, if this is not good news to you, you have never understood the gospel of grace.”

PS PA Bible Study @ 8:30 with Janessa.
PPS “Real Talk” with Nic Barnett and friends. Join them @ 9pm in the Rees Hall rec room for an hour of open talk about real issues facing young adults today. Guys have to check in at the front desk and be escorted down!!
PPPS Leading up to next week’s Week of Prayer, join us as we read the Bible through in April. There is a chart outside Campus Ministries and as you read a chapter cross it off the list. As we get farther along we can look at the chart and see what’s left to read. Do you realize that if EVERYONE on campus participated we would only each get to read one chapter! I wish everyone would be a part of the experience but since that’s probably not realistic, help us by taking time to read whatever you can this month- be sure and stop by and cross off what you read!! Thanks
