Good Morning Union

It's March 23; Good Morning Union

“I will never leave you or forsake you.”  Joshua 1:5

It's March 20: Good Morning Union

“The Lord is not slow about His promises as some count slowness.”         2 Peter 3:9

This verse stopped me this morning because I know I have not always been the most patient person when it comes to God’s timing toward my requests, and I doubt I’m alone in this problem! It’s hard to wait sometimes and especially when I am going through tough times. My culture and my selfishness usually win out and I expect God to “produce” at the same rate I expect my computer to respond—in nanoseconds!

“If my people, who are called by my name…”     2 Chronicles 7:14

Here’s a deal from God, personalized from my verse for today:

If I:

“Humble myself”- acknowledging that God is more important in my life than I am
“Pray”- talking to Him “as to a friend” as Ellen says
“Seek His face”- making choices that make it easier to see Him
“And turn from my wicked ways”- making choices that will not hinder me from seeing Him clearly

He will:

“Now to Him who is able to keep you from falling…”        Jude 24

Another great “He is able” text! For me, for you, for anyone who wishes to accept it, He IS able:

“To keep me from falling
To present me before the throne

Without fault
With great joy”

“Search me, O God, and know my heart…”          Psalm 139: 23,24

When I continue looking for ways to talk with God I find some amazing “prayers” in the Bible. My verse for today is one of those “prayers.” It’s a really scary prayer to pray, and I must admit that when I pray it, as I did this morning, I pray it with just a bit of apprehension for fear that God might just answer this one!

Welcome back! Hope you had a great break! Just think, only 35 more class days, a few recall exercises, and graduation/summer will be here!! J

OK, enough of that “good news;” here’s what I found this morning as I return to GMU!

“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but be an example to the believers…”        1 Timothy 4:12

It's March 6; Good Morning Union

“Great peace have they that love thy law, nothing can make the stumble.”          Psalm 119:165

It's March 5; Good Morning Union

“Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long.”  Psalm 119:97

“How can a young man keep his ways pure?”     Psalm 119: 9,11

Another good question, this time presented by David, someone who didn’t always keep his ways “pure!” He’s a good one to ask and to hear his wisdom on the subject because this was very real to him, as it is to many of us. I’ve never done what David did, but I don’t have to look too far to know that all of my ways have not always been pure. So David, how can I do it? Speaking to God his answer was two-fold:

“Rejoice… pray… give thanks… for THIS is the will of God.”            1 Thessalonians 5:18

A while back I talked about Googling the texts about “God’s will,” or “the will of God.” Here’s another one that I thought of this morning. Three things I can KNOW are God’s will:

Giving thanks

And my practical application of how to do that?
