Easier Off-campus Access to Library Databases

The library is pleased to announce a new login system for off-campus access to library databases.  Students may now login to most databases from off-campus using their UC IDs and passwords (the same one used for Moodle and Self Service).  Faculty members should use their Marcie usernames and passwords.  This eliminates the need to track down database-specific login information for each individual database system.

While this system is in place for all of the major database systems, including EBSCOhost and OCLC Firstsearch, it does not work for all library resources. The new system is not yet in place for some IP-authenticated journal subscriptions.  We will be working on this portion of the implementation over the next few weeks. The new login system also does not work for databases and journals where the vendor has given us password only access.  This includes JAMA, Micromedex (Nursing) and Federal Tax Expert (Accounting).  Unfortunately, for the foreseeable future, students will continue to need additional passwords to access these resources.

Please contact Sabrina Riley if you encounter any problems with this new system.
