Introducing The Garland Encyclopedia of World Music Online
Union College Library recently acquired a perpetual site license for the online edition of The Garland Encyclopedia of World Music. The online edition includes more than 9,000 pages of material originally published in the 10-volume print edition along with the accompanying music files. The online edition of the Garland Encyclopedia will be updated as new content is available.
Interactive features of the online Garland Encyclopedia include playlists and advanced search options which allow users to search by instrument, person, genre, ensemble, organization, place, language, or cultural group. Users may also browse the site and a "What's New" link provides alerts about new content.
The Garland Encyclopedia of World Music will be valuable for cultural studies in classes from geography, history, and religion to music and sociology.
