Finding Full-text Articles Just Became Easier

If you are a frequent user of the library's article databases, you may have noticed that the Periodicals A to Z link has been changed to Find Article @ Union College. This change was made because the library has added an open URL link resolver. Link resolvers are tools which allow linking from one individual article record in a database to the full-text document in another database.

The new link resolver also includes two additional useful features. The Citation Linker allows users to enter information gleaned from bibliographies and other places in order to search for specific articles without going through an article database. If the article is not available in full-text anywhere, searchers are given the option to request it through interlibrary loan.

In addition, users with Google accounts may set up their Google Scholar preferences to display Union College's holdings in Google Scholar. To set preferences, login to your Google account and go to Google Scholar. Click the settings icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Click Scholar Preferences and scroll down to the Library Links section.  If you are on campus, "Union College Library - FindArticles @ UnionCollege" should already be listed.  Make sure the check box is selected.  If you are off campus you may need to search for Union College Library using the Find Library feature and then select it. When you search Google Scholar, "FindArticles @ UnionCollege" will appear to the right of any article for which the library has full-text.
