Student wins Nebraska ADDY award
Kristen Vogler, junior graphic design major, won a silver Student ADDY in the Nebraska ADDY competition for 2011. The award was presented during a banquet on Feb. 5, 2012 at the Rococo Theatre in Lincoln.
Vogler entered an Associated Student Body poster she created for the fall banquet in the state competition. Sponsored by the American Advertising Federation, the ADDY awards are the only creative awards program administered by the advertising industry for the industry.
Vogler’s poster, used to promote the '50s-themed ASB fall banquet, imitated a record and spun around to reveal costume ideas. As the public relations officer for ASB, Vogler designs posters on a regular basis.
“The posters I make for ASB have really made me grow as a designer because the other officers are open to just about anything,” Vogler explained. “They are super supportive and excited, which gives me the confidence to keep working out the glitches in my designs.”
Vogler is the second Union College student in recent years to win an ADDY. A poster created by 2010 graduate Justin Gibson for a spring ASB banquet also won the student silver ADDY in the Nebraska competition in 2009.
