Don't wait to register for the new school year
Only four short weeks remain before students rush back to the books and a new school year begins at Union College. But before settling back into studies, there are a few important details all incoming and returning students need to know.
Financial clearance deadline is August 1
All financial paperwork must be completed and the first payment for the new school received by August 1. After that, reserved classes will be dropped and students won't be allowed to complete early registration.
Registration is Sunday, August 25
Registration is a day earlier this year (Sunday, instead of Monday). If you’ve already completed everything online, all you need to do is take your ID photo, stop by Student Services and sign up for clubs between 2:00 and 6:00 p.m., and then enjoy a free pizza party from 5:00-6:00 p.m. provided by the Union College Alumni Association. Classes begin on Monday, August 26, and failure to complete registration by 5:00 p.m. on Monday will result in a $50 late charge.
Early move-in restrictions
Residence hall and meal charges for the new academic year begin August 23, or August 16 if you are a new student. Alert the deans if you plan to arrive earlier and be prepared to pay a small fee for each extra day before August 23. Additionally, if you do not check into the dorm, you will not get the student discount at Union Market. Moving in prior to August 16 will require paying for meals with cash or credit card.
Almost all of registration can be completed online
You can practically finish registration before you arrive at school by logging on to www.ucollege.edu/portal and following the steps in the registration guide. Sign up for classes, provide your email address and update your degree information early on so that on August 25 you will only have to take your new ID photo and visit Student Services.
Freshman Orientation begins August 18
New students can also take advantage of the online registration options at www.ucollege.edu/portal. New students received login and access information along with acceptance information. Sign up early to save time when you arrive on campus. When you arrive on campus, you can get your temporary ID card at the Ortner Center desk. This will allow you to charge your meals at Union Market.
