Easier Off-campus Access to Library Databases

The library is pleased to announce a new login system for off-campus access to library databases.  Students may now login to most databases from off-campus using their UC IDs and passwords (the same one used for Moodle and Self Service).  Faculty members should use their Marcie usernames and passwords.  This eliminates the need to track down database-specific login information for each individual database system.

Films on Demand is Here to Stay

Faculty response to the Films on Demand trial has been overwhelmingly positive.  In fact, faculty are so excited, we could not wait until next fall to start an annual subscription to the database.  When the trial subscription ends on March 10, Union College will seamlessly move into a regular annual subscription to Films on

Library Databases Go Mobile

Wish you could more easily search the EBSCOhost databases on your smartphone?  Now you can with EBSCOhost Mobile.  To access this service use either https://linus.ucollege.edu:8443/login?url=http://m.ebscohost.com/ or https://linus.ucollege.edu:8443/login?url=http://search.ebscohost.mobi/ and click on the EBSCOhost Mobile profile.  UC ID and password are still required.

Union College Library Acquires Its First JSTOR Collection

Union College Library has purchased its first JSTOR collection.  The Language and Literature collection includes 78 titles focusing on literature and language in English, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish. The earliest publication is from 1884 and the most recent articles are currently from 2007. 

Films on Demand: Database Trial Available until March 10, 2010

The library is currently offering a free trial of Films on Demand, streaming educational videos from producers such as Films for the Humanities and Sciences, BBC, PBS, Cambridge Educational, and more.  The collection includes over 6000 full length films which may be viewed in their entirety or in shorter segments.  The trial will be available until March 10, 2010.  Contact Sabrina Riley with your questions and comments.  Off-campus login information is available upo

Union College Library has joined Facebook.  Become a fan and receive the latest updates on services, resources, and events in the library.  Fans may also browse library photo albums and give the library staff suggestions through the online discussions.

Student artists display work in McClelland Art Gallery

Completing homework assignments on time can be an art form. Sometimes, the homework itself is art.

Running through Oct. 24, the McClelland Art Gallery is showcasing more than 35 pieces created by students. The artwork consists of projects completed this year in classes such as Design I, Oil Painting, Watercolor, Intro to Graphic Arts and Page Layout.
