If you frequent the library's website, you may have noticed this fall that the library's account disappeared from the bookmarking social media service Delicious. The library's account was lost when Delicious changed its Web host several months ago. We are pleased to announce that the library's account is once again alive and well. Union College librarians are busy rebuilding the list of useful links.
If you are a frequent user of the library's article databases, you may have noticed that the Periodicals A to Z link has been changed to Find Article @ Union College. This change was made because the library has added an open URL link resolver. Link resolvers are tools which allow linking from one individual article record in a database to the full-text document in another database.

In a special ceremony during Union College’s first academic convocation of the year on August 30, the school named the first recipients of the Union College Board of Trustees Writing Awards for four students.
Introduced during the spring semester of 2010, the writing awards are intended to “recognize the abilities of our Union College students,” said Tanya Cochran, an associate professor of English who helped establish the award.
On June 20, 2011 Gillian Connors joined the library's staff as Technical & Electronic Services Librarian. Her responsibilities include maintenance of library catalog records, ordering new materials for the library's collections, and processing those new acquisitions for use by library patrons.
If you have looked for NetLibrary ebooks recently you may be wondering what happened to them. EBSCO purchased NetLibrary from OCLC in the spring of 2011 and earlier this summer announced that they would discontinue use of the NetLibrary brand name. Ebooks originally part of NetLibrary were integrated into the EBSCOhost platform during the week of July 18. Readers will now find these books under the database title eBooks from EBSCOhost on the library
Before I entered college, I felt terrified. I knew college would be difficult and wondered if I had what it would take to succeed. Now that I’m a senior, I see that even though the coursework can be very demanding, with the help of great professors here at Union, anyone can succeed.
