May 2016 graduate featured in Wall Street Journal

Gary Reece walked across stage of College View Church to receive his Union College diploma on Sunday—44 years after he first enrolled. After losing multiple jobs thanks to a tightening labor market, Reece left his family back in San Jose, Calif., for a few months and moved into the men's residence hall to finish the degree he started in 1972.

Kim Canine named vice president for Student Services

Union College selected a second new vice president this year, appointing Kim Canine as vice president for Student Services this week. Canine, who came to Union last July as associate dean of students, will assume the role to be vacated by Linda Becker this summer.
 

2016 Spring Concerts spread over a week

This school year the Division of Fine Arts Spring Concert is more of a concert series—with three different performances featuring a wide variety of music from many campus groups. So check out these events in the coming week—there is something for everyone.

At Union, teamwork isn’t just for athletes. I would never have become who I am today without the support of my teammates in ASB and Campus Ministries.

During my freshman year, I received an email saying Campus Ministries was looking for a public relations person, someone to make posters. I had no idea what I was doing, but I applied. Little did I know this experience would begin my path to leadership.

PR class works for local nonprofits

Imagine walking into your first class of the fall semester and a new professor explains that you and your classmates will jump right into the work of creating a PR plan for a real nonprofit organization. That’s exactly what happened to David Deemer and Stefani Leeper when they walked into Pat Maxwell’s public relations principles class this year.

Heather Boulais honored as Bryan Health Trauma Champion

In the 16 months since Union College gymnast Heather Boulais sustained a traumatic brain injury during a practice, she has made steady progress toward recovery with the help of her family and a team of dedicated medical professionals. Now Bryan Health, the hospital that treated Boulais immediately following the accident and in the months afterward is honoring her and the people who contributed to her recovery by naming her a Trauma Champion.
